Wizard Punch F4 - Originally gifted to me by Sozo, a male clone from a limited editon batch of F2 seeds called Sleeve of Wizard, better known as Wizard Punch. (Viper City x Abusive OG x Blissful Wizard x Purple Punch). He had pollinated one of their chosen female cuts. I grew out 53 of the F3 seeds and made one more final selection until I achieved the uniformity from seed I had looked for. This is a really important first step in any F1 cross.
F1 Seeds Explained
True Hybrid F1 seeds - For those who want a uniform set of seeds with a blend of the parents like Garlic Wizard are the product of stabilized genetic lineage. This means that the parents have been inbred for mutliple generations, creating a program of genes that fit the plants environment and are cemented into the genetic code, readily transferring to the next generation without recessive genes. It can take serveral attempts and tests before a breeder finds a healthy line of seeds. When two stabilized lines cross for the first time, it's called a true F1 Hybrid Cross. True F1's are very healthy and represent a blending of traits from both parents into one uniformity from seed. Codons are signaled to cross over during reproduction, reulting in a mix of traits. This blend is called codominance, it is repsonsible for 'hybrid vigor' in which true F1's grow 25% faster and share the best traits as one.
Polyhybrid F1's - seeds with random genes spanning hundreds of years. These are the result of two F1 hybrids crossed together for the first time, and are unfortunately being sold by 'the best breeders', often having slow and unual growth. This means the parents were not inbred prior to crossing the new strains together. In nature, plants organically inbreed with themselves in a single geographic area, diversity is ensured through sheer numbers and billions of pollen particles, amongst millions of ovaries. Think of plants in Afghanistan versus plants in Africa, these plants have been inbreeding in these completely separate areas for millions of years. When you want to simulate this in a grow room, you have to inbreed plants manually, usually for around 4-5 generations of offpsring to achieve the desired effect. A shortcut to this effect is called back crossing, where you cross the offspring back to a mother plant clone. The first back cross generation will be 75% genetically similar to your original mother. Cross this first generation back again, and you have Bx2, about 95% similar to the mother. This is the correct way to selectively breed plants, and if you have access to an HPLC, you can choose the plants carrying the highest number of THC genes, and produce the most potent seeds possible, every time.
